Facts about Taiwan and China’s Colossal Lie to the World

1.    Republic of China (ROC) was established on October 10th, 1911.

2.    People's Republic of China (PRC) was established on October 1st, 1949.

3.    Taiwan was a colony of Japan at the time when both the ROC and the PRC were established. Taiwan was NOT claimed in their constitution to be a part of their territories. In fact, in 1895, the government of China, in a Treaty with Japan, formally renounced “In Perpetuity” any possible territorial claims China might have ever had to Taiwan.

4.    Today, the ethnic Chinese only account for 14% of the total population of Taiwan, the rest of the population are ethnic Taiwanese. In 1949, after losing the Chinese civil war, the deposed ROC political elite escaped China by brutally invading Taiwan with two million Chinese troops. The Communist Party of China then took control of Mainland China and established the PRC.

5.    On September 8th of 1951, six years after the WWII ended, Japan signed a Peace Treaty in San Francisco with 49 nations, renouncing all its rights and claims to Taiwan. Neither the ROC nor the PRC were invited to be a signatory of this Peace Treaty. As the principle occupying power, under international law, the US is still technically responsible to ensure that the people of Taiwan are granted the Right to Democratic, Self-Determination.

6.    The Exiled ROC’s claim to be the true government of mainland China from Taiwan is not recognized by the United Nations or any other State.

7.    Taiwan has been known as Formosa by the West since 1500's. However, the natives of Taiwan have been calling it Pakan, Tayoan (Taiwan) and other local names for tens of thousands of years, but NEVER China.

8.    The ethnicity and the DNA of greater than 80% of the people in Taiwan is Taiwanese, NOT Chinese.

9.   Taiwan has never been part of China. As is shown in this official ROC 50 cent stamp, printed in 1926 commemorating the Untied States of America’s 150th birthday.
